Local energy communities led by municipalities
The Spanish pilot is the first RESCHOOL pilot and it takes place in the rural area surrounding Girona. Four villages participate to this pilot, i.e. Amer, Rupià, Cellera de Ter, Cornellà de Terri. A total of 90 households, 30 public facilities and 2 local businesses are involved. The main goal of the pilot is to enlarge PV plants, develop and improve storage systems and evaluate the impact of designing local grids.
Currently, 4 small meters were installed to all the municipal equipment, which assesses in detail the consumption and generation of energy. In the next steps all participants will have smart meters installed, while some villages will get shared batteries, increase their PV capacity or get EV charging points.
